What: Much modern art, Van Gogh, fauvist, and expressionism is about evoking emotion as an end to itself. Modern local news has fallen into the same trap. It is designed to evoke emotions, mostly fear. The goal being to attract views and sell advertising. The lack of intellectual substance in cable and local news is stunning. It like a giant splashy fauvist painting rich in colors and with enough form to kinda makes sense, but in the end there is little communication of facts or knowledge.
